Now that the weather is warmer, the official grilling season has started. Actually, in Minnesota we never put away our grills. We grill in all kinds of weather.
The most popular item to grill is the hamburger of course. We love to grill burgers at Zweber Farms. Our ground beef burgers are extra lean and extra tasty. Often times novice grillers will make lean ground beef into a dry, tasteless clump of meat. Here are three tips to make your hamburgers extra juicy.
1. Use medium-high direct heat
If you are using a charcoal grill you will want to make sure the coals are barely glowing and have a thick ash coating. This takes about 30 minutes.
2. Mix the beef with an egg
Mixing a well beaten egg into your beef before you make the patties, helps the beef bind together. With extra lean beef this is important.
3. Watch the burger
Make sure to watch the burger closely. Meat will continue to cook internally for about 5 minutes after you remove them from the grill. To get your desired doneness, make sure to remove the burger slightly before it is “done”. If you want your burger to be at 160 degrees (well done), make sure to remove it from the grill at 155 degrees.
To make your burgers extra special make sure to top with Organic Valley cheese, home grown tomatoes and Annies Natural’s ketchup.
Happy Grilling!
