When the weather is nice out our family loves to eat outside on the deck. Besides the fresh air, I like eating on the deck because the kids’ messes don’t end up on our carpet.
Recently, I turned our weekly taco night into a nacho bar night. I mixed up my taco seasoning recipe with a pound of Zweber Farms ground beef. Then I set out bowls of chopped tomatoes, green peppers, lettuce, Organic Valley sour cream and Organic Valley shredded Cheddar Cheese.
Emily’s Taco Seasoning: You can adjust all these ingredients to your family’s taste.
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
It always amazes me that when given the choice to top their own nachos, the boys will always choose more veggies than if I did it for them.

Isn’t that the way of kids?
I like your recipe. Think we’ll have a variation of your meal tomorrow night. :o)
Thanks! And if they had picked the tomatoes themselves, the kids would have eaten even more 🙂
