When visiting our farm, you may have noticed the white covered hoops in our pasture. Those are our chicken tractors. These chicken tractors are part of a holistic, regenerative approach to farming.
Since the early 1990’s we have been raising meat chickens on pasture. This is an excellent way to raise a healthy and delicious bird while at the same time improving the soils and pasture plants on our farm.
Each day, the chickens are moved to clean pasture where they can forage insects and worms. Their manure is left behind to breakdown and build the soil.
Later, our grass fed beef and dairy animals will graze the pasture. Healthy, nutrient rich soil grows nutrient rich plants, which turns into nutrient rich beef and milk. There is no need for synthetic chemical fertilizers.
When you buy chickens from us, you are supporting farming practices that benefit you (nutrient rich foods) and the environment.
