Vote for Tim in the Carhartt Tough Contest

Over the past year, Carhartt and Cintas have asked Carhartt wearers to submit an essay on why they think they are Carhartt tough. I found out about the contest on the Carhartt Facebook page and after I submitted my essay, I told Tim to do it as well. I guess they liked Tim’s essay better. 🙂

Tim was a quarterly winner and is now in the running for the grand prize. The top two winners will either receive an Ultimate Duck Hunting experience with Ducks Unlimited or trip for two to the STIHL Timbersports Sieres in 2011. Click Here to visit the voting page. Tim is number four on the list. You can vote as many times as you want (so bookmark the page and vote often). Voting ends February 28, 2011.

Tim told me to not to brag about him in this blog, but how can I not. This guy has been working almost non-stop since he officially joined the farm operation as a co-owner in 2007. Before that, Tim would work many nights milking cows after school and between homework. Even in college he would work some nights and even come home on the weekends. Farming is in his blood.

Besides the one 3.5 day vacation we get in July, the only other times he is able to get away from the farm is for agricultural related seminars and conferences. Dairy farming is a 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year job.

This winter has been terribly miserable.  We have had lots and lots of snow and of course many day below zero. Wind chills have reached negative 50 degrees several times this winter. Without Carhartt, Tim wouldn’t be able to do his job. Carhartt wool socks, bibs, and coat keep him warm and comfortable, even in the worst conditions. In fact, we are a Carhartt family. Our sons have Carhartt coats and of course you can find me all decked-out in Carhartt as well. We have tried other brands, but Carhartt is our favorite because of their quality.

If Tim wins this contest, he wants to take his Grandpa Boyd on the trip with him. Before Tim became a full time farmer, duck hunting opener was always spent with Grandpa and his uncle and cousins sitting in swamps and calling in birds. It was an annual family tradition. Ever since Tim went back to the farm, he hasn’t been able to participate in this tradition and misses the time he spent with this Grandpa.

So please vote for Tim. Due to his hard work and dedication to growing and raising wholesome food, Tim deserves a little vacation. Remember voting ends February 28, 2011 and you can vote as often as you want.

Way to pull the emotional strings! Now, I’d like to get some friends down here to host Tim & Grandpa for a good duck hunt if he doesn’t win this thing! Ducks Unlimited is headquartered in Memphis so I know a few folks there as well as some at Avery Outdoors. And with all the rice fields we have in this part of the world, there are surely some farmers who may be able to help. Now if we could find sponsors for the airfare….. we’d be in business.
